City Building

The Finance Department is responsible for ensuring sound fiscal policies related to the use of city resources. A priority of the department is to provide accurate information and customer service to our citizens and outside agencies.

Revenue Collection

The department oversees the revenue collection operation which includes:
  • Insurance premium taxes
  • Net profit taxes
  • Occupational taxes
  • Property taxes
  • Utility payments
  • Boat/Water craft trailer parking permits ($30)
  • Parking tickets
  • HART bus tokens

Responsibilities

The department provides the following services:
  • Accounts payable and debt management functions
  • Budget forecasting
  • Cash management duties
  • Interim financial statement preparation for the city

Awards

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the City of Henderson, Kentucky, for the annual budget beginning July 1, 2017. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communication device. This award is valid for a period of one year only.

The City of Henderson and the Division of Accounting has received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award for the past nineteen years.
