2023 Curbside Recycling Pickup Schedule

Henderson Recycles

Did you know the average American creates 4.4 pounds of trash each and every day? That means over 30 pounds per week, 924 pounds per month and over 11,000 pounds per year…so a family of 4 creates over 44,000 pounds per year. The vast majority ends up in our landfills, but it doesn’t have to be this way!

  1. Reduce
  2. Reuse
  3. Recycle

Ways to Reduce the amount of trash you create

  • Reusable grocery bags
  • Reusable cups instead of plastic bottles
  • Eliminate single use plastic straws by switching to reusable straws, paper straws or no straw at all
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Take your lunch to work in reusable containers instead of eating out or using plastic bags
  • Use both sides of a piece of paper before recycling or throwing away, or better yet, if you don’t absolutely need a hard copy don’t print it at all
  • Use cloth napkins and towels instead of paper, or buy paper towels/napkins that are sustainable or made from recycled products
  • Bamboo toothbrush instead of plastic - these are biodegradable
  • Carpool
  • Unplug electronics and turn off lights when not in use
  • Dryer balls can replace dryer sheets, these are reusable for a year or more

WHAT IS SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING?

No sorting needed – customers can mix all approved recyclable items in one container, eliminating the need to sort materials. Recycling is just as easy as using the trash can, so there is no reason not to recycle.

How do I get started?

or call (270) 831-1234

Remember that recycling doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing sport, it may be helpful at first to ease into recycling by setting weekly or bi-weekly goals. Maybe start out with all aluminum products. Next, add cardboard and paper board (like your cereal boxes). Next, add mixed paper, and the following week add plastics. Once you get started you will be amazed at all the trash you can eliminate!

  1. Curbside Pick-up Guidelines
  2. Curbside Pick-up Schedule
  • Pick-up on same day as your trash bi-weekly
  • Recycling needs to be placed curbside before 5:00 am on scheduled pick-up day
  • Place cart within 3 feet of the curb with handle facing toward your residence
  • Place cart at least 3 feet from all other objects (mailbox, car, trash, etc.)
  • Please rinse all food/drink containers but labels do not have to be removed
