Fernwood Cemetery

History
Established in 1849, it is the final resting place of several state politicians and other famous citizens. Among those buried are two Kentucky governors, Lazarus Whitehead Powell and John Y. Brown; Archibald Dixon, a lieutenant governor and U.S. Senator for Kentucky; James Franklin Clay, Kentucky senator and U.S. representative; John Dorsey, U.S. representative; Mary Towles, founder of Mother’s Day; Mary Arvin, Kentucky’s most decorated WWI female veteran; and over 250 veterans from WWI, WWII, and the Spanish American War.

Established in 1921, contains 28–30 acres of land.
