HENDERSON, KY, January 29, 2026– The City of Henderson has announced the application process to become a 2026-2027 City Junior Ambassador is now open for local students. This educational and leadership program is designed for local high school students interested in civic engagement and community involvement.
The program is open to students who will be seniors during the 2026-2027 school year. Ambassadors are selected based on their interest in serving the community and their desire to learn more about city government and local leadership. Interested students are asked to fill out an online application and a select number will be invited to interview for the program. After the interview process, students will be notified of their acceptance or denial into the program.
Participants in the City Junior Ambassador program will have the opportunity to:
- Network with community and civic leaders
- Participate in hands-on community projects
- Go behind the scenes of Henderson’s city government
- Learn about career, leadership, and engagement opportunities available in the community
“This program offers our local students a unique, behind the scenes look at how our local government operates. It empowers them to play an active role in their community,” said Holli Blanford, Public Relations Director for the City. “We are excited to welcome our fourth group of City Junior Ambassadors and can’t wait to see the impact they have on Henderson.”
Since being launched by Blanford in 2022, the program has successfully graduated more than 30 students.
